Car Treasure Hunt

On Tuesday 24th June 2008, Matlock Town FC are running a car treasure hunt to help raise funds for the new stand appeal. The hunt will begin and finish at Causeway Lane, starting at 6:30pm.

Fun activities are planned for the route, and refreshments etc will be available at the end. Cost per person will be £2.50, obviously with as many as you can get in your car.

Further details will be announced nearer the time.

Matlock 2-3 Ashton

A disappointing end to a disappointing season for the Gladiators who gave away three scrappy goals to gift Ashton victory.

Ashton thus completed a league double over Matlock, who, in spite of making a number of changes, should have won the match comfortably.A home victory would have been the perfect finale for two worthy Matlock stalwarts, midfielder Steve Circuit, and striker Steve Taylor, who announced their retirements prior to kick off.

Circuit was named as skipper and Taylor was on the bench. Cameron Fearon returned to the back four with Circuit partnering Matty Thorpe in midfield. Ruben Wiggins-Thomas and Matty Caudwell occupied the flanks and Ben Kistell joined Dene Cropper in attack with leading scorer Simon Barraclough warming the bench. Full Report

Kendal 2-1 Matlock

Matlock's final game on the road has ended in the usual result, unfortunately a defeat. The opening periods of the game were evenly contested in breezy conditions, but it was Kendal who made the break through first, converting a penalty on 27 minutes and Kendal lead at half time.

Matlock used all three subs during the second half as they looked to get back into the game. With around 15 minutes remaining they looked to have done that with Cropper converting a penalty for Matlock. The joy was short lived however as Kendal were awarded a second, and the game 3rd penalty which was converted. Full report.

Matlock 4-2 Kendal

Matlock claimed victory in the first of a quick fire double against Kendal, and the result is very much welcome for fans and officials alike. The Blues got off to a poor start and went behind but goals from Barraclough and a superb Riley stike gave Matlock a half time lead.

Kendal drew level early in the second half, but Matlock got going and again scored two further goals, Barraclough claimed a second and an OG sent Matlock to victory, this combined with poor dicipline from Kendal as they had two players sent off, the second sending off was possibly harsh, however Matlock had Kendal rattled.
