James Lukic

JAMES LUKIC

James is in his eighth season at Matlock, having made his first team debut at the age of sixteen. A stylish, accomplished defender who is the nephew of former Arsenal and Leeds United goalkeeper John Lukic, he has also impressed when pushed forward into midfield. In 2002/03 he picked up both the players and fans player of the year awards and is now the Gladiators’ skipper. He has won the supporters player of the year award in seasons 2004/05 and 2005/06 and was also named as the players player in 2005/06.

Ryan Davis

RYAN DAVIS

Defender, formerly with Worksop Town, who had two loan spells with the Gladiators before making the move to Derbyshire.  Formerly with Sheffield Wednesday, Ryan has turned in some impressive performances either at full back, or at centre half.

Ryan Laight

RYAN LAIGHT

Defender formerly with Barnsley who joined Matlock in the close season. Had loan spells at Alfreton Town and Tamworth last season.

Glenn Kirkwood

GLENN KIRKWOOD

Glenn is a strong centre half in his second season with the club. He also fills in as a striker if required.

Phil Austin

PHIL AUSTIN

Left back formerly with Buxton who signed in the close season and  has played at Staveley recently.

Dave McNicholas

DAVE MCNICHOLAS

Central defender who joined for a third spell, this time from Stocksbridge Park Steels, having also won UniBond Premier Division and First Division runners up medals with Worksop Town.. A consistent player who is always reliable and gives 100%.

Richard Taylor

RICHARD TAYLOR

Richard is back at Causeway Lane for a third spell. He originally joined Matlock in the 1992/93 season from Frecheville before moving to Gainsborough trinity. He returned in the 1998/99 season only to join Hucknall Town during the following season. He was at Lincoln United before teaming up again with Ernie Moss, his old boss at Gainsborough, in January 2002. He is equally at home as a left winger or wing back.
