Matlock Town have signed Sheffield United striker Jerome Slew on loan for the rest of the season.

The deal was concluded earlier this week ahead of tonight’s (Thursday) Evo-Stik NPL transfer deadline.

Slew (18) was on loan at Mickleover Sports earlier this season and impressed with his pace and direct running early on when Sports were defeated 2-0 at the Autoworld Arena in February.

Slew’s arrival adds to the strong link between Matlock and the Blades. The Gladiators have had the services of goalkeeper George Willis since September and last term had defender Julian Banton (currently at Alfreton), winger Otis Khan (who has since moved to Barnsley) and striker Jamie McDonagh who netted a hat-trick in last season’s 7-0 Derbyshire Senior Cup Final demolition of Gresley.

Slew will go straight into manager Mark Hume’s squad for Saturday’s home meeting with Skelmersdale United.

Goalkeeping cover for Willis has also been finalised with 16 years old Jordan Pierrepont signing on the dotted line. Pierrepoint has previously been with Chesterfield.
