Following earlier discussions we are delighted to announce that the transfer of Richard Walton for an undisclosed fee from Lincoln City to Matlock Town has today been completed.

Richard aged 20 was on loan to Matlock for the last 2 months of the season and played a major role in helping secure points at the end of the season as well as developing a good relationship with our supporters.

Richard had been with Lincoln City for at least 3 years but was very keen to join the Gladiators and CEO Keith Brown said that the assistance by the Management and Directors of Lincoln City regarding this transfer was much appreciated.

Richard previously had loan spells with Gainsborough Trinity and Cleethorpes Town, before returning to the Imps. He was an unused substitute in the League Two win over Newport County in late-January.

It’s a signing that’s sure to excite our fans and shows once more that the club believe in the project that Manager Dave Hoole and Player/Assistant Manager Shaun Harrad have laid out.
