Matlock Town FC are pleased to announce the additions of seventeen year old striker James Wroot and seventeen year old midfielder Jamie Philips from Grimsby Town.

Both will join up with MTFC Reserves play within the Central Midlands League and if the performances our good they will get the opportunity to be looked at by the first team.

Its a pioneer break through and a first within our newly structured development set up under Steve Heath and something we wish to do more in the future with other pro clubs.

James is an exciting centre forward who scored a hat trick during his trial game v Sheffield FC and has been a regular scorer for Grimsby’s Youth Team this season. An exciting prospect with a real eye for goal.

Jamie is a tall and strong central midfield player with the good technical ability who is another exciting prospect. Playing in Grimsby Town’s Youth Team and in his second year Jamie has the talent to impress at Autoworld Arena.

Justin Tellus who is MTFC Development Manager said the following “We are very pleased to have James and Jamie join us and I would like to thank Grimsby Town FC youth team manager Alan Lamb for his support and assistance through out the process of bringing these two exciting young players to Matlock Town FC. We look forward to there début tomorrow with our reserve side away to Pinxton FC in the Central Midlands League and we hope there performance over the coming weeks gets them a call up to the first team squad. James is an exciting forward who is scoring regularly within the youth team set up, while Jamie is a tall and strong centre midfielder who impressed during his trial. Our ADS (Advanced Development Side) side will be also playing Grimsby Town Youth Team in the coming weeks and those wanting to see our two new players in action can also do so at our next home game on Tuesday night.”
