Lukic returns to the Lane |
Matlock Town's prodigal son is back at Causeway Lane as former skipper James Lukic rejoined the Gladiators after a season away on Monday night.
The influential central defender moved to Blue Square North Gainsborough Trinity after nine years and more than 400 first team games with Matlock last summer. But Lukic did not take up Trinity manager Steve Charles' offer of a new contract at the Northolme and the Gladiators chief Mark Atkins moved in to lure a firm Matlock favourite back to where his career began as a sixteen year old back in 1998.
The Lukic signing represents the second half of the two major signings with former Bradford Park Avenue captain and centre half Mark Haran signing on the dotted line last week to become part of a three man management team as assistant to Atkins alongside goalkeeping coach Nick Buxton. |
