Matlock Town will look to bounce back from back to back home defeats when they entertain Hyde United on Saturday. The Gladiators have only played a single fixture since their last home defeat to Buxton on Boxing Day, that being on the 28th December, a 1-0 victory at Ilkeston.
Hyde United are struggling in the league after a bright start, having failed to pick up a victory since late October, a run of nine games. This puts Hyde at the bottom of the division’s form table.
One advantage the visitors will have on Saturday is their match sharpness, having played two league games and a cup match in 2016, compared to a complete lack of fixtures for the Gladiators due to adverse weather conditions.
Given that Matlock haven’t played a competitive fixture in 2016, preparation and training will be vitally important for this fixture. The players will have been training hard and maintaining fitness levels, as well as following a sensible nutrition plan. The recovery from Saturday’s fixture will consist of a lot of protein supplements and shakes, which are available from sites like Protein Advisor. Boss Mark Hume said last week he doesn’t expect fitness to be an issue: “our lads pride themselves on their fitness, in fact I find nowadays players look after themselves better than they used to.”
