Defenders

Ryan Davis Ryan Davis - Defender

Defender, formerly with Worksop Town, who had two loan spells with the Gladiators before making the move to Derbyshire.  Formerly with Sheffield Wednesday, Ryan has turned in some impressive performances either at full back, or at centre half. After a season plagued with injury in 2007-08, Ryan will be hoping to be more involved in the coming season.

Lee Featherstone Lee Featherstone - Defender

Defender Lee Featherstone signed from neighbours Ilkeston Town in the close season of 2008-09. Lee, a 24 year old defender, began his career with Sheffield Utd as an apprentice before moving to Scunthorpe, where he made 60 appearances. Danny Wood - Defender

Danny can play either at full back or in midfield and is presently on loan from Stalybridge Celtic. A tidy player who has given 100% during his stint with the Gladiators.

Midfielders

Steve Warne Steve Warne - Midfielder (Captain)

He originally joined the Gladiators on loan for a month from Hucknall at the end of the 2003/04 season. He was released by the Blue Square North club to make a permanent move to Matlock in the 2004-5 season and soon became a crowd favourite. His engine will make him a vital cog in the newly formed centre midfield.

Gary Webster Gary Webster - Midfielder

Gary has progressed from the under 19 squad and can play as either a striker or on the right of the midfield. He has now established himself as a vital cog in the Gladiators' line up.

Paul Riley Paul Riley - Midfielder

Paul is a former Notts County midfielder who joined the Gladiators following his release by Ilkeston Town in November 2004 having earlier had a short spell with Alfreton Town. Equally adept at either left bak or on the left side of midfield, Paul shows a refreshing ability to take players on and has weighed in with a few useful goals.

Liam King Liam King - Midfielder

Liam is a close season capture from Rotherham United. Liam, 20 years old, is a tough tackling midfielder but can also fill in in the defence if required. Liam joins the Gladiators after a loan spell at Altrincham last season.

Rob Lund - Midfielder

Matty Thorpe - Midfielder

Matty joined the Gladiators from Blue Square North outfit Hucknall Town in March 2008. A hard working strong tackling midfielder who likes to get forward and support the forward line.

Jamie Jackson - Midfielder

Released by Chesterfield at the end of last season, Jamie had already twice been on loan at Matlock during that campaign before signing a contract for the Gladiators in the summer after some impressive performances in the pre season games.  A fast and skilful winger, Jamie should add quality to the Gladiators attacking play.

Luke Federenko - Midfielder

Jake Pidcock Jake Pidcock - Striker

Pidcock is a utility player, equally at home up front or in midfield. He has been on the fringe of the squad for a few seasons now, and always gives 100% when called upon.
