Steve Heath – Head Of Development
Steve brings many years of experience within the Team management structure at Rowsley and District Youth Football, Midlands Regional Alliance, Central Midlands Football League and now NPL Football Academy Football. A member of the Cavendish Fields Sports Association and the Matlock Town FC – Management Committee. Steve is passionate about Grass Roots Football and the Pathway Development Structure at the Club.
Justin Tellus – Development Manager
Justin was selected at a young age to play for his borough before being selected to play for and captain London School Boys who played there home games at Fulham’s Craven Cottage. He then moved on to play Youth Football at Millwall and Stoke City and at the tender age of just 18 started playing in the MPL (Malta Premier League) for over 10 years were he played for the top two teams in Birkirkara FC and Valetta FC . While winning trophies and playing regularly in the UEFA Cup competitions against Top European Sides, Justin during his pro career gained valuable experience under some great managers including Arsenal Legend Alan Sunderland among others that has helped him gain the required knowledge and experience for his role within our club. Now in 2016 Justin has been moved from ADM to Development Manager working with HOD Steve Heath, as they both continue there work covering all teams within the MTFC development sector.
Carl Vickers – Education Tutor
Carl’s early playing career was at Hucknall Town, Eastwood Town and Stavely MW FC. He spent 3 years from 2009 as Manager of Stavely MW FC u19s then moved to Glapwell FC as player manager. Last season he played for Clay Cross Town. Carl has been a Tutor and Academy coach at Chesterfield College since 2009 and is the founder of a coaching company ‘ Sportscool’ based in Chesterfield. Carl is now the Gladiators Academy Educational Tutor to enable the student to reach their maximum potential on the educational programme.
Jamie Yates – Academy Head Coach
Jamie is a highly rated Uefa B coach who whilst still playing is leading the Gladiators Academy Coaching programme. Jamie has progressed through a similar Academy system so has that valuable experience to support the students. He progressed on to play professional football with Rotherham United before moving to other clubs namely, Burton Albion, Alfreton Town, Boston United, North Ferriby United, and is currently in his second spell at Gainsborough Trinity FC. Jamie has also had a short loan spell at MTFC in the 2014/2015 season.
Neil Holmes – Academy Welfare Officer
Neil is an FA Trained Welfare Officer who brings a wealth of experience to the team and is currently the head of the Junior section – Soccer School.
James Holmes – Coaching Assistant
James is a qualified FA coach and has played at semi professional level and futsal at a regional level. He has a BTEC level 3 Diploma in Sport and has devoted a lot of time to grass roots football. Most recently coaching Matlock Town JFC u18s. James has experience working closely with Derbyshire FA and the Football Foundation to secure funding for the first u21s football side in the Derbyshire Dales.
Callum Walters – Academy Sports Therapist
Callum has recently graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a degree in Sports Therapy. Callum has made an immediate impact at the Club both with the Reserves and the Academy teams not only with his professional approach but with injury Management and prevention strategies which are vital to player development. He has experience working at Preston North End FC in an elite sporting environment and has now matchday experience working with the 1st team.
