Matlock Town launched their Grand 2020 Draw yesterday (Wednesday) to raise funds for the daily running of their club.

Tickets will be on sale for four complete months with the draw set to take place on Saturday 31 October 2020 when Matlock officials hope their team will be back in action after the Covid 19 outbreak.

There are four major prizes, with cash amounts of £500 and £100 respectively, the latter being supplied by Matlock Web Design, with the other two notable prizes being an Apple I pad supplied by Wish Computers and sponsored by an anonymous donator plus a central heating system provided and installed by J J Crump and Son of Sheffield.

Included in a substantial list of other prizes are match day tickets from both Sheffield United and Rotherham United, a signed bat from Derbyshire County Cricket Club plus matchday tickets, and a number of prizes generously supplied by local businesses.

Tickets are £1 each, in books of five while there is also an option to buy tickets online.

“We’re hoping as many of our fans as possible will help us by taking some books to sell to their family, friends and work colleagues” said Matlock Chairman Bryn Apperley this week.

“We were overwhelmed by the donations people made to help us with the Just Giving Appeal and everyone is working tremendously hard behind the scenes to ensure we’re ready again once the go ahead is given for non league football to start up again. I’d like to pay tribute to all my colleagues who’ve put in the hours to get this fundraiser up and going. I’d also like to thank everyone who’s donated a prize, there’s some lovely prizes to win so I’m hoping the local community will again support us as they’ve done so brilliantly in the past .”

Tickets are available to buy or collect from the Club Shop (tel 01629 583866) which is open every morning (9 am to 12 noon) except Friday and Sunday. Bryn can be contacted on 07795 377893.
