Gladiators bag Blakeley as final deadline signing

Matlock Town boss Paul Phillips made one more signing shortly before the 5pm NPL transfer deadline with 19 years old full back Adam Blakeley signing on the dotted line.

Blakeley joins the Gladiators from Staveley Miners Welfare and Phillips labels him as “one for the future.”

“He’s a good young lad , we’ve had him watched at Staveley, he’s been with the young Chesterfield lads and we feel he’s a lad that will do well for us in the future. We’ve got him in now for we may well need him in the remaining games” Phillips added.

It takes Matlock’s transfer deadline acquisitions up to five with Osebi Abadaki, Danny Greenfield, Darren McKnight and Benito Lowe all having signed earlier ion the week.

Matlock head to fourth in the table Scarborough Athletic tomorrow hoping to turn around a disappointing run which has seen them win just once in nine matches.
