Gladiators draw league rivals Basford in Emirates FA Cup 1QR

Hopes of facing “fresh” opposition in the FA Cup were dashed for Matlock Town when the draw for the First Qualifying Round was made at Wembley today.

The Gladiators are at least at home but against fellow NPL Premier Division outfit Basford United.

Matlock have already faced the Nottingham club this season, winning 1-0 at Greenwich Avenue thanks to a late stunning free-kick from Piteu Crouz.

The tie is to be played on Saturday 7 September with a replay if required, expected to take place on Monday 9 September.

The Gladiators and Basford have locked horns in the FA Cup previously, Matlock winning 2-0 in Nottingham during the 2013/14 season.
