Gladiators draw Stafford Rangers in FA Trophy First Round
The Proctor Cars Stadium will host one of the ties of the round in the Isuzu FA Trophy 1st round proper when Matlock Town clash with Stafford Rangers.
Both sides have 21 league points so far this term with top of the table Rangers holding the advantage by goal difference over the third placed Gladiators who have played a game more.
If the tie is anything like the league game at Matlock in September which the Gladiators won 3-1 then the fans are in for a cracker. A Brace from top scorer Alex Wiles sandwiched a breathtaking bicycle volley from Kallan Murphy, Rangers replying with a last gasp penalty from skipper Tom Tonks.
Matlock boss Craig Elliott says it will be a hard game but he is happy that the Gladiators have home advantage.
“Stafford are doing well so it’ll obviously be a tough game but at least we’re at home so I’ve got to be happy.”
The match is set to be played on Saturday October 29 with a 3 pm kick off.
