Matlock Town will have another new face in their squad for Saturday’s visit to Warrington Rylands with Derby County forward Bartosz Cybulski joining the Gladiators on loan, subject to FA and NPL approval.

Of Polish nationality Cybulski (20 on Saturday), is a towering striker standing at 6’5” and has been with the Rams since he was in their under 9’s and he signed as a professional scholar at Pride Park in the build up to 2019/20. In the following season, Cybulski scored another eight goals and claimed five assists for the under 18’s and came on as a substitute in Derby’s FA Cup 3rd Round tie at Chorley when the Rams had no choice but to play a youthful outbreak after Covid 19 struck the first team squad.

He began his first senior game for Derby at home to Bristol City shortly afterwards and has made 4 senior appearances. He has also been called up for the Polish youth sides on numerous occasions.

Matlock boss Craig Elliott is delighted to have brought in Cybulski.

“I tried to get him last week but it looked as if he was going to another club. It came as a nice surprise when we discovered he was available, he’s a proper number nine, a good size, just what we need and he’ll be a massive asset. I’d like to thank Derby for all of their help in Bart joining us.”

Gladiators Chairman Jay Beaumont says the move came about following the club’s links with Derby and owner David Clowes.

“We’re overjoyed to welcome Bartosz to the Proctor Cars Stadium, the signing is a big coup for us and we wish him the best of luck in his stay here. We’re also very grateful to Derby for their assistance and this move highlights the great links we have with Derby County and in particular their owner David Clowes. Long may that continue.”

Meanwhile the Gladiators are working on a move to send Sean Higgins out on loan and they have released striker Reon Benjamin- Potts. .

“I’ve not seen too much of Sean, he needs to go out and play, he’s too young to be sat in the stands every week, Kallum Mantack has been doing really well. We’ve decided to release Reon and we wish him all the best ad he continues his football journey” Elliott added.

Winger Al Byrne will be available again for the weekend after serving his three match ban.
