Goundry joins Gladiators on loan from Grimsby Town

6’4” central defender Jaz Goundry has joined Matlock Town on a month’s loan from League Two outfit Grimsby Town.
The nineteen year old was born in Mansfield and was part of the Mariners Academy system before signing his first professional contract at Blundell Park in May 2021.
Towards the end of last season he had a loan spell at Bridlington Town playing a key role as Brid escaped relegation from the NPL Eastern Division while this term he has been at Grimsby Borough.
Matlock boss Craig Elliott has had his eye on Goundry for some time.
“We’ve had good reports on Jaz from his stints at Bridlington and Grimsby Borough. He has size, physicality and gives us good balance at the back as a left footed centre back. He’s now probably ready to test himself in a higher league as he continues his progression to try and get into Grimsby Town’s first team in the future. He’s another hungry young player that I’m looking forward to working with.”
