Kittrick adds duo to take new faces tally to sixteen

Matlock Town boss Steve Kittrick has added two more players to the Gladiators ranks taking his list of new recruits to sixteen.

Kittrick has brought in defender Josh Lacey after he was released by Scarborough Athletic on the eve of the new season and Alfreton Town midfielder Jordan Sinnott.

Lacey (24) is well known to Kittrick who signed him for Scarborough from Gainsborough Trinity in the summer of 2018 and he quickly made the right back spot his own. Comfortable in any defensive position though, he was one of three players released by current Seadogs boss John Deacey who remarked that it was a tough decision, describing him as a top bloke who had done a lot for the club.

Sinnott (25) played for Alfreton against the Gladiators in last season’s Derbyshire Senior Cup semi final defeat and is the son of former Huddersfield Town captain, Watford defender and Altrincham and Gainsborough Trinity boss Lee Sinnott.

Sinnott junior made two first-team appearances for Huddersfield Town after being captain of their under 18 side. He had short loan spells at Bury and Altrincham before signing for National League Altrincham permanently after his release by the Terriers in 2015. He played 59 games for the Robins before moving to Halifax Town, making 39 appearances during 2016/17.

Chesterfield signed him at the start of the 2017/18 campaign, making eleven appearances before his move to Alfreton.

Kittrick had earlier hinted there would not be any new additions before the Bank Holiday programme which sees the Gladiators visit Stafford Rangers tomorrow (Saturday) and host Gainsborough Trinity on Monday afternoon.

Matlock won both of their opening games by the same 1-0 scoreline at home to Bamber Bridge and away at Basford United.
