Phillips gets his man as Byrne makes the move across the A6

Matlock Town is pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Alex Byrne from local rivals Buxton FC.
Byrne who is comfortable on either wing or in a number ten role behind the main striker was in his second spell with the Bucks scoring against the Gladiators on boxing day.
He has had successful spells with the now-defunct Shaw Lane where he played alongside Spencer Harris, Jon Stewart, Chib Chilaka and ex Gladiator Lee Bennett, Northwich Vics and Gainsborough Trinity as well as one summer with Jamie Vardy's famous V9 academy.
Byrne started the season at Warrington Town with whom he is still the leading assister after racking up ten before the end of September before making the move to Buxton FC in December and once Paul Phillips took the Gladiators helm, he soon became one of his most sought after targets.
Byrne goes straight into the squad for Tuesday's home game against Morpeth Town (7:45PM kick off)
