Thompson signs from Hyde United

Matlock Town are pleased to announce the signing of 26-year-old Jake Thompson from Hyde United for an undisclosed fee subject to NPL and FA approval.

Jake, who is primarily a winger, started his career in the Huddersfield Town academy.

Following his release in 2017, Jake spent time in the Northern Counties East Football League with Eccleshill United, Liversedge and Silsden, before heading over the Pennines and into the Northern Premier League (NPL) with Ramsbottom United and Bamber Bridge.

In May 2022, Jake would join Radcliffe FC and go on to be part of the side that won the Northern Premier League last season. He made 27 appearances last campaign, scoring two goals, and lined up for the Boro on either wing or leading the line.

Jake joined Hyde United at the beginning of this season and has played nine times, scoring twice for the Tigers.
