The weather has beaten Matlock Town for the second successive Saturday.

This time it is heavy rain that has caused Gladiators officials to call off the mid season home friendly with Chesterfield under 23’s that was scheduled to go ahead tomorrow with a noon kick off. Last weekend frost was the problem when Matlock were due to take on Lancaster City at the Proctor Cars Stadium.

So attention now turns to Wednesday night when Matlock host Shirebrook Town in the Derbyshire Senior Cup 3rd Round.

With a lack of home games in recent weeks, the Gladiators will be desperate to get the match on and fans will no doubt be equally desperate to see their team in action at the Proctor Cars Stadium.

Admission prices have been reduced for the Shirebrook visit to £8 for adults, £5 concessions, £3 for ages 16-18, £2 for ages 11-16 with those aged 10 and under being admitted free.

Wednesday’s game should see the return of top scorer Jonny Margetts who has missed the last two matches with hamstring trouble sustained in the FA Trophy defeat at Curzon Ashton on November 18. The prolific Margetts has already bagged 28 league and cup goals this season.

Meanwhile Matlock have launched a special season ticket offer ahead of Christmas to cover the remaining thirteen league matches at the Proctor Cars Stadium.

It will cost £100 for adults, £65 for concessions (over 65), £60 for students with NUS card and £20 for those aged 10-15.

“We believe this would be an excellent Christmas box for any keen Gladiators supporter who hasn’t got a season ticket and we look forward to fans backing the club by purchasing one for themselves or their family and friends” said club official Graham Mumby.
