Winger Dan Bramall departs the Gladiators

The 21 year old joined Matlock last summer after impressing in pre season games following his release by Everton.

He soon became a fans favourite and was put on contract once the season got under way. But a suspension, followed by injury and illness has limited his appearances recently and he has found himself down the pecking order.

“To be fair we have a lot of players of the same ilk, he’s a very good player and I think it’s been a bit of a kick in the teeth for him not playing. I have to free funds up to bring in other people, the lad wants to play, that’s totally understandable, but we sat down and talked, we had an open and honest conversation. I told him I couldn’t offer him a regular place in the team. He’s not been one ounce of trouble, unfortunately he’s dropped down the pecking order especially since Alex( Byrne) and Jude (Oyibo) have come to the club. So we feel it’s only right to release him and give him the opportunity to get his love back for football.”

Bramall made 27 appearances for the Gladiators scoring four times.

Phillips is working hard to add to his squad in other areas, the deadline for transfers in the BetVictor NPL being Thursday 26 March.
