Agustien parts ways with the Gladiators

Matlock Town have released experienced midfielder Kemy Agustien.

The 37 year old Dutchman who has Premier League experience with Swansea City and Brighton joined Matlock during the summer, but picked up injuries in the pre season matches against Chesterfield and Derby County.

He impressed on his return against Morpeth Town and then Atherton Colleries when Matlock were beset with injuries but he has found the travelling from his Birmingham home to be problematic.

“Kemy’s a great lad in the dressing room and it’s been disappointing that he’s not managed to get more games and minutes with us. As time’s gone on he found the travelling too much and now we’ve got injured players coming back it’ll enable him to spend more time with his kids. His experience and character will be sorely missedand of course we wish him the very best wherever he next plays his football.”

Matlock head to Stourbridge for an Emirates FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round clash on Saturday. The only absentee save for long term injury victims Archie White and Alex Duhameau is likely to be defender Jamie Sharman who has hamstring trouble. Striker Reece Styche has returned from international duty with Gibraltar and should be added to the squad to face the club he left to join the Gladiators last March.
