Demidh departs as Carruthers searches for a replacement
Striker Karl Demidh is leaving Matlock Town to rejoin Belper Town after exactly a year at the Proctor Cars Stadium.
The 32 year old is much travelled around East Midlands non league football and has this season been troubled by injuries and illness which has limited his availability for the Gladiators. He averaged a goal in roughly every three matches netting twelve goals in total in 39 appearances.
Manager Martin Carruthers says that fitness problems were the issue behind Demidh’s departure.
“He was fantastic for us in our push for the play-offs last season but this year it’s been a stop start campaign for him with injury and not being well which meant he couldn’t command a regular start. This was obviously frustrating for him, he wanted starts. We part on good terms and wish him well for the future.”
Carruthers is hoping that a replacement can be found in time for Saturday’s trip to Atherton Colleries.
“We’re working hard to bring someone in and hopefully if all goes ok we could have him for the weekend”.
Demidh has been with Holbrook, Mickleover, Grantham Town, Shepshed Dynamo, Loughborough Dynamo and Sheffield before he joined Quorn from where he came to the Proctor Cars Stadium, His second spell with the Nailers sees him move down a division and have a long trip to Dunston in the NPL Eastern Division on Saturday.
