Dwyer departs for NPL Midlands Walsall Wood
Matlock Town have released striker Anthony Dwyer who made his debut for NPL Midlands Division Walsall Wood in their 2-1 home defeat to Loughborough Dynamo on Saturday.
A second spell at the Proctor Cars Stadium has therefore come to an end, this one lasting three and a half months following his move from Alfreton Town.
Dwyer managed just two goals for thew Gladiators in this spell, both of them coming in the same game when Matlock won 3-0 at North Ferriby in the Isuzu FA Trophy.
Recently though he has been on the bench and Dwyer’s desire for regular first team football was undoubtedly behind his departure.
“I’d like to thank him for his efforts in his time with us, he’s a great lad and he was great around the dressing room” said manager Martin Carruthers.
“But he wants to be playing regular football, I can see that, so his move will hopefully kickstart his season.”
