Gladiators confirm Derby County friendly

Matlock Town will again face Derby County’s first team squad this pre-season with the date now confirmed as Friday, 12 July (7.45pm).

Last year’s fixture proved to be a sell out and with the Rams securing a well-deserved promotion back to the Championship last month, another capacity crowd is expected at the Proctor Cars Stadium.

Derby won 2-0 last July thanks to goals from James Collins and Ben Radcliffe.

A Matlock spokesman said: “Once again we’re absolutely delighted to welcome Derby County to our stadium for what should be another great night.

"We offer our sincere congratulations to all at Pride Park on their return to the Championship and naturally wish them all the very best for the coming season. We know the Rams have great support in and around Matlock with some Derby fans also coming here when they have a free Saturday, so we’re hoping for good weather and looking forward to see how Nicky Law’s team fare against a Championship club.

"A big thank you to everyone involved at Derby County for their help in organising this game.”

The link between Matlock and Derby has been further strengthened with the Rams under 21s playing their home games at the Proctor Cars Stadium for the next three seasons in a recently-confirmed deal.

Tickets for the game will be available from 9 am on Wednesday by clicking HERE.

Prices are adults £12, concessions (over 65 and student) £8, 11-18 year olds £4 and with under 10’s being admitted free of charge.

Supporters can also purchase season tickets to watch the Rams under 21s at the Proctor Cars Stadium at a great price of £20 for adults, £10 for concessions, children being allowed free admission and these can be obtained HERE.
