Gladiators set to face Spireites U23's - 9.12.23

Matlock Town have opted to fill their blank Saturday this weekend with a home friendly against Chesterfield under 23’s with a 12 noon kick off at the Proctor Cars Stadium.

With their home meeting with Lancaster City frozen off last Saturday and the likelihood that Tuesday’s trip to Whitby Town might also not go ahead, manager Martin Carruthers was keen to get his squad in match action with their next fixture not scheduled until Wednesday 13 December when they host Shirebrook Town in the 3rd Round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Admission on Saturday has been reduced to £5 for adults, £3 for concessions with those under 16 being admitted free.

Gladiators Chairman Jay Beaumont said arranging the match was important for a number of reasons.

“We haven’t had a lot of home games lately and our fans must be feeling starved of football so arranging this game fulfils a number of objectives with regards to income, giving the players a game instead of training and giving our fans a game to watch. We hope to see a good many of our fans down at the game, and we’d like to thank Neil Cluxton and Chesterfield FC for their co-operation in arranging the match.”
