Gladiators sign Rotherham United midfielder

Matlock Town have strengthened their attacking options with the loan signing of attacking midfielder Curtis Durose from Championship side Rotherham United.

The 21-year-old has recently returned to the Millers having had a spell at National League North Scarborough Athletic, where he scored twice in 21 matches.

He has spent his whole career at Rotherham, rising up through the academy sides, and has made one first team appearance.

Durose has also had a spell on loan at Gainsborough Trinity and could make his debut for the Gladiators in their home match against Trinity tonight, should it survive the weather and approval is granted by both the NPL and the FA.

Matlock boss Martin Carruthers reckons Durose will be a valuable addition to the Gladiators squad.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign Curtis, he’ll be a fantastic addition for the football club.

"We know all about Curtis from his time at Gainsborough last year, he was inspirational in helping Gainsborough get in the play-offs and he got 14 goals in the process, so we know about his quality, we know about his goalscoring ability and it’s something that we need at this moment in time.

"A big thank you to Rotherham for their help in getting this over the line. After the troubles we’ve had recently in getting lads in, this is a welcome boost and I’m very much looking forward to seeing him in action.”
