University of Derby Students showcase business opportunities for The Gladiators

Posted on

Over the course of the season students from University of Derby have been working with The Gladiators to generate business ideas for the Club to increase revenue.

12 students chose to engage with Matlock Town as the subject of their coursework.

Recently, they took the opportunity to present their outline business plans to representatives of The Gladiators and their tutors as part of their final year Business Consultancy Project module coursework.

MTFC board member Graham Mumby said ‘We were delighted by the range of ideas presented by the students. We will certainly be looking at taking some of their suggestions forwards in the coming months’

All the participating students would like to thank all the Matlock fans and volunteers who participated in their surveys either online or in person at The Proctor Cars stadium, providing invaluable information to shape their business ideas.

Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby, Mike Edwards, also a Gladiators season ticket holder, added, ‘This has been a great partnership and we hope that it’s been beneficial for the football club, as well as our students.’

Both organisations are aiming for this to be the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership. We’ll be jointly exploring other opportunities to collaborate ahead of the resumption of the academic year and the new season come the autumn, as well as looking forward to inviting next year’s student cohort to The Proctor Cars Stadium as they embark on their Business Consultancy Project.
