Wilson joins the Gladiators from the Seadogs

Matlock Town are pleased to announce the signing of 22-year-old attacking player Cameron Wilson from Scarborough AFC on a contract until the conclusion of the 25/26 season.

Cameron began his career with his hometown club Scunthorpe United, with whom he signed his first professional contract in 2021.

In January 2022, Wilson joined Northern Premier League Premier Division side Scarborough Athletic on a one-month loan deal. The deal was later extended until the end of the season. Wilson was recalled to Scunthorpe in April 2022, after he had made 17 league appearances for Scarborough and scored twice. Wilson immediately returned to the Scunthorpe side and made his first league start for the club in a 1–1 draw against Stevenage on 18 April 2022.

At the end of the 2021–22 season, Wilson's contract was extended for a further year.

Despite initially turning down a new contract and receiving offers from clubs in higher leagues, Scunthorpe announced that Cameron had agreed to a new contract with the club in June 2023, making 33 appearances and scoring five times for United in the National League.

In March 2024, for the second time in his career, he moved on loan to Scarborough – now in the National League North – until the end of the season.

He was released by Scunthorpe at the end of the 2023–24 season. On 30 July 2024, Cameron signed for Scarborough permanently and has featured 22 times this season for the Seadogs before making the move to Ryan Cresswell's Gladiators.

Welcome to the club, Cameron!
