Carruthers retains the services of forward Demidh

Striker Karl Demidh is the latest to be told by manager Martin Carruthers that his services will be required for the 2023/24 campaign.

The 31 year old was one of Carruthers’ first signings coming to the Proctor Cars Stadium from United Counties Premier side Quorn where he had netted 21 goals. Demidh though has scored goals wherever he has gone with Belper Town, Grantham Town, Coalville Town, Mickleover, Shepshed Dynamo, Loughborough Dynamo and Sheffield amongst the clubs he has scored for on a regular basis.

Prior to him coming to Matlock, Carruthers noted that Demidh had often been a thorn in his side so he was keen on signing him.

He made an immediate impact for the Gladiators, scoring in each of his first three games and finishing the campaign with six goals.

Carruthers believes that Demidh would have added to that tally had he not been blighted with an ankle injury.

“I’m absolutely delighted to retain Karl, when he came to us he hit the ground running and has proved to be a brilliant signing. An ankle injury probably prevented him from scoring more goals for us. So when he’s fit he’ll be a real threat and we look forward to plenty of goals from him.”
