McNicholas part of Carruthers plans for new season
24 years old Robbie McNicholas will be part of Matlock Town manager Martin Carruthers’ plans for the new season.
Equally happy at either right full back or operating as a wing back, McNicholas showed his versatility some good performances on the left earning some deserved praise from the Matlock crowd.
Carruthers knew what he was getting from McNicholas having come through the ranks from the academy team to the first team when Carruthers managed Basford United. He then went on to join Newark Town and Carlton Town before ending up at Pitching In NPL Midlands Division Loughborough Dynamo .
McNicholas moved to the Proctor Cars Stadium in February and Carruthers says it was a piece of good business.
“I’m delighted to have Robbie with us for next season, he’s played out of position in a lot of the games and just got on with it and for me he’s been one of our most consistent performers despite picking up injuries and a suspension. He’s done a fantastic job for us so he’s been an excellent addition.”
