Durose set to bloom for Law's Gladiators

Curtis Durose is Matlock Town’s latest acquisition for the coming season as the Gladiators prepare for this Saturday’s Ernie Moss Challenge Cup home meeting with Chesterfield.

The 20 year old spent the last two and a half months of last season on loan from Rotherham United before his release from the New York Stadium during the summer.

During the 2022/23 season Durose spent a successful loan period at Gainsborough Trinity helping the Holy Blues qualify for the end of season play-offs.

At the beginning of last season he was on loan at National League North Scarborough Athletic.

Law says if Durose can apply himself to the job in hand, he could re-establish himself in the full time game.

“Curtis is another young player who had a good spell on loan at Gainsborough the season before last but was in and out of things when he was at Matlock. He’s a talented lad and if he can get his head down, work hard and fulfil the potential he has, he may get back into League football.”

Durose joins fellow new additions in goalkeeper Ben Townsend (Stocksbridge Park Steels), defenders Joshua Ashman (Guiseley), Shaun Brisley (Alfreton Town), Connor O’Grady (Stalybridge Celtic) and Charlie Oglesby (Stocksbridge Park Steels), midfielders George Milner (Ashton United) and Sam Essien (Boston United), winger Tomas Poole (Stocksbridge Park Steels) and forward Benni Ndlovu (Sheffield FC).
