Law continues to build as Wood retained

Harry Wood has agreed terms with the Gladiators for the new season.

Wood, whose father Andy played for Matlock during the 1991/92 season, joined Matlock for a second spell at the Proctor Cars Stadium last October from Stamford, having previously stepped up from the former Academy set up to make his first team debut towards the end of the 2017/18 season.

A tough tackling and stylish player in the middle of the park, he put in a number of consistent performances for the Gladiators last season.

Manager Nicky Law says Wood fills an area where he needs to strengthen even further.

“I’m pleased to have Harry on board, he’s a player in a position where I feel we need to strengthen with a further two to three players. With Harry that eases the pressure short term while we look for further quality additions to add to what we have. Harry has good qualities and hopefully with guidance he can develop other aspects of his game and become a positive player for us this season. After speaking with Harry it was evident that he wanted to sign for the right reasons so it was a yes from both parties.”

Wood joins John Johnston, Liam Hardy, Joe West and Curtis Durose from the squad that finished the 2023/24 campaign in signing on the dotted line for the coming campaign.
