Gladiators & Buxton set to lock horns for Markovitz Cup

Matlock Town and Buxton will lock horns again at the Proctor Cars Stadium in a pre season game to contest the Markovitz Cup.

The Bucks come to town on Wednesday 12 July and the game adds to the home list and follows the prestige meeting with Derby County that is set for Saturday 8 July. Notts County and Mansfield Town on 18 July and 1 August respectively complete the Gladiators games to date on home soil.

The Markovitz Cup is in its second season, the inaugural meeting last summer at Silverlands ending in a 1-0 win for Buxton through an own goal early in the game. The teams then were drawn together in the 3rd Round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup last December, the Bucks again coming out on top with a 2-1 victory.

Matlock’s away friendlies are at Retford United on 15 July, Skegness Town on 22 July, Sheffield FC on 29 July and Belper Town on 5 August. The 202324 NPL campaign gets under way on Saturday 12 August.
