Gladiators release Njaria

Midfielder Simon Njaria has been released by Matlock Town.

The news was confirmed this week with Njaria looking at clubs closer to his Salford home. He moved to Matlock during the summer having had previous NPL Premier Division experience at Buxton, Warrington Town and Shaw Lane.. More recently Njaria has gone down the pecking order at the Proctor Cars Stadium with manager Martin Carruthers recruiting Ethan Cartwright, Connor Dimiao and Dan Bradley to fill the Gladiators midfield.

Njaria has been troubled by injury since Martin Carruthers was appointed as the Gladiators manager in December and this played a part in the decision to let Njaria leave.

“I’d like to thank Simon for his hard work and efforts during my tenure and wish him well at his new club. Unfortunately due to injury and the change in training nights this had an impact on Simon’s availability and a subsequent impact on team selection. I’m sure he’ll be a valuable asset to whichever club signs him and I wish him well for the rest of the season.”

The sixth placed Gladiators take on second in the table Hyde United at the Proctor Cars Stadium as they aim to consolidate their push for a place in the end of season play-offs.
