Matlock Town have signed striker Harry Wakefield and he could make his debut at home to Guiseley on Tuesday night, subject to NPL and FA approval.
Wakefield (23) comes in from United Counties League Premier Division North outfit Anstey Nomads having scored fourteen goals for them so far this season.
He is well known to Gladiators boss Martin Carruthers having been part of the Basford United Academy and graduating to the Basford first team when Carruthers was in charge at Greenwich Avenue. He has since been at Nuneaton Borough, Ilkeston Town and Shepshed Dynamo prior to joining the Nomads.
Carruthers says Wakefield should provide an increased presence in their attack.
“He’s a big and powerful 6’2” striker , he’s hard working and also a great lad, he’s just what we need at the moment. He’ll win his headers and provide that power and strength we need in the final third so I’m delighted to bring him to the club.”
