Mantack makes Matlock move

Matlock Town’s latest signing is 24 years old Kallum Mantack who can operate as a full back or winger.

Mantack attended Matlock’s 1-1 home draw with Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday night to sign on the dotted line. He may be seen as a direct replacement for Joe Ferguson who made the move to Marine last week.

Mantack progressed through the Oldham Athletic youth side to sign his first professional contract in April 2016 making his first team debut in an EFL Cup clash with Wigan Athletic shortly afterwards. He would make one appearance in League One for the Latics away at Blackpool in August 2017.

Loan spells at Alfreton Town, FC United of Manchester and Stockport County followed before he made a permanent move to Edgeley Park. Mantack has since been with Altrincham, Ashton United, Curzon Ashton and Stalybridge.

“He’s lively and will give us options both defensively and going forward and I’m delighted he’s joined us” commented Gladiators boss Paul Phillips.

The signing is subject to FA and NPL approval and Matlock hope to include him in their squad for the Bank Holiday programme which sees them travel to Atherton Colleries on Saturday before hosting Gainsborough Trinity on Monday (3pm).
